Planet on Screen: A Narrative Masterclass is a professional development workshop for Canadian film and television creatives who want to explore strategies to integrate our climate reality into scripted content in ways that feel authentic, entertaining and true to your creative vision.
Built for writers, producers and creatives working in scripted film and television, this workshop moves beyond awareness into application, offering practical tools for climate-aware storytelling that feels compelling.
Together, we explore:
- How to work with the reality that the climate crisis touches everything and everyone
- How to weave environmental themes into your narrative, character development, tone, and world building without lecturing
- How to find the comedy, tension, and humanity inside climate-aware storytelling that resonates with audiences

The Planet on Screen Workshop will be hosted by:
Anne Francis: a producer and an Environmental Studies graduate researcher specializing in climate and sustainability storytelling. Through Producing for the Planet, Anne serves as researcher and facilitator, supporting producers, creatives and broadcasters to integrate climate, nature, and sustainability themes on screen.
Joined by:
Skye Regan: is known for Caillou (2024), Secrets of the Forest (2024) and Luna, Chip & Inkie Adventure Rangers Go (2022).
Keri Ferencz: Writers Guild Of Canada award-winning screenwriter and producer Keri Ferencz hails from Niagara Falls and has the love of novelty - and mini golf - to prove it. Showrunner on the upcoming third season of the tween mystery series Macy Murdoch and Co-Executive Producer on Murdoch Mysteries, her previous television credits include Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder At The Breakers, Hudson & Rex, Frankie Drake Mysteries, Remedy, and Cows Come Home. Holding a Master’s Degree in Popular Culture with a focus on fandom as a creative practice, her writing has been seen in The Globe and Mail, Macleans, and on Pop Matters. She is represented by Meridian Artists.
